Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life,

One of Scotland's leading visitor attractions, the 4-star rated Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life in Coatbridge, has re-opened after a £10m Heritage Lottery Fund supported redevelopment.

The project has seen a ground-up refurbishment of the museum's main exhibition hall, which was formed in the mid 1980s out of the site of the Hydrocon Crane company. The original exhibition hall, while providing a superb space for the the museum's collection of working machinery, had become in need of extensive upgrading, to maintain its position in a competitive leisure market. The Heritage Lottery Fund award, one of the biggest in Scotland, recognised Summerlee's importance in Scotland's industrial revolution and as a 21st century visitor attraction.

Coatbridge, ML5 1QD.

Around 30 members enjoyed a dauner roon this interesting site and had a refreshing coffee and natter in the cafe. The children were well entertained with a large well equipped play area on the site.

            March 6th                  Area AGM,

In the     Public Institute, New street

The committee would like your support at the Annual General Meeting. This is your chance to tell us of new venues that you think we should visit, and what you would like to see happening with your club. Suggestions are always welcomed.

We will even give you a cup of tea or coffee & maybe a biscuit or a bun.

A new  Area Chairman elected for BCC Scotland

George Neil intimated his desire to stand down from the chair after 7 years in the job, by saying it's surely time now for a change.

Mr Gerald Gavin was duly elected as chairman at the AGM and we are sure he will find his wife Christine a wonderfull support to him as he moves the club onward into the future.

Add to the previous list the fact that Kelso has two 18-hole golf-courses, an ice rink, rugby, cricket and football clubs, as well as one of the oldest and friendliest race-courses in the UK and you will begin to realise that there is more to this town than meets the eye.

The jewel in the town crown is perhaps the French-style cobbled square. Situated around the town square is a selection of fine retail outlets, both national and local privately owned, where any visitor could buy the perfect gift for their loved ones back home. In addition to the retail outlets, there are many bars and restaurants for the casual drink or meal or even the more formal occasion.
